Policies
This page lists the following policies: Late Work, Missed Work, Uniform, Grading Policy
Late Work
Late assignments are 10 percentage points off every day.
Missed Work Policy - (See the "Absent Work" tab for specific assignments)
It is ideal that your child not miss any days of school, but I understand that many things are out of our control. If your child misses a day of school, then all work that would've been turned in on the missed day is now due upon the return date. (e.g. If your child is absent Tuesday and returns Wednesday, then Monday's homework will be collected Wednesday. If they are absent Tuesday and returns Thursday, then Monday's homework will be collected Thursday).
In regard to missed classwork during absence, your child is expected to return the missed work within two school days of the return day. If your child misses multiple days, then they will be given the same number of days to return the work. On that note, please understand that I cannot necessarily provide your child with handouts and work before he or she leaves for an absence. It is extremely difficult to gather resources for one student; and in the interest of time I cannot prepare for the entire class in extended advance, as I am generally gathering resources and making copies for the next day or so only. Even with notice, your child may have to wait to get the work upon their return.
Lastly, students will also be responsible for learning all missed skills, so you will need to work with them at home on whatever items they missed. Any scheduled assessments can be made up, following that same missed work policy.
Uniform Policy
South Loop Elementary School has a uniform policy. Students must wear plain, navy blue pants and plain, white shirts. Spirit Wear may be worn on Gym days.
Party Invitations
It is very important to me that we never cause children to feel left out. This comes up most frequently when students are planning parties for upcoming celebrations. I understand that you cannot always invite every student to parties, however, students are not allowed to pass out party invitations in school unless they are inviting every child in the class.
Grading Policy
A 100% - 90%
B 89% - 80%
C 79% - 70%
D 69% - 60%
F 59% and below
G just kidding :)
